📍 Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

We spent four nights in Ubud, escaping the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. We had anticipated that Ubud would be a place to rest and relax, although it was far from it. We spent our days hiking up Mt Batur at sunrise and bike riding down through the small villages in the outskirts of Ubud. Two activities I cannot recommended enough when visiting. Don’t get me wrong, we still did our fair share of relaxing (see poolside images above).

Ubud is a nice change of pace for a more authentic balinese experience. We wandered through a local balinese home and rode through the Tegalalang rice paddies. Watching as the locals farmed the rice opened our eyes to the real differences in our perceptions of hard work. We also visited the Monkey Temple.. an interesting experience where I was attacked by a monkey. See here for some pretty hilarious photo evidence. But my favourite experience was by far our Mt Batur sunrise hike
